  • Medical and dental insurance coverage are provided at no cost for residents, spouses, and children.

  • Short and long-term disability coverage, life insurance coverage and AD&D insurance are also provided without cost to the residents.

  • Complete professional liability insurance is provided.

  • Residents receive membership to the American Academy of Pediatrics, including a subscription to Pediatrics.

  • Four weeks of vacation are provided during each year of residency.

  • Children's Hospital enables each second- and third-year resident to attend one educational conference each year.  Residents receive a book allowance, the amount dependent on your year of program.

  • Meal allowances are provided for residents on night call.

  • Residents relax in their own lounge.

  • Residents receive lab coats embroidered with their names, and personalized business cards.

  • Free parking is available in an enclosed parking structure adjacent to the hospital.

  • Residents have full use of all Wayne State University facilities, including the pool and gym, and can attend athletic, theater and cultural events at student rates.  Tickets to other area sports events and concerts are provided throughout the year by the medical staff.

  • Residents receive Internet access through Wayne State University.

  • Payment of guaranteed student loans and some other academic loans can be deferred while residents are part of a residency program affiliated with Wayne State University.
